Laver is similar to Japanese nori with a distinct nutty flavor. It can be used or eaten in a variety of ways from simply snacking on the dried seaweed leaves (it’s not formed into sheets).
For Off The Grid Sushi I toast the seaweed over a medium hot cast iron skillet. Once it’s crunchy I use a stainless strainer to grind down to a course powder. This will be set aside to be used later to make giosomo (sp?) (a sesame sprinkle). Set aside the larger pieces to include as a topping on soba noodle salad or a similar dish.
